It’s not my usual genre. But I really enjoyed it! This is a techno thriller, I think they call it.The driving force of this book is THE tech. I wanted to know more about technology, so I kept turning the pages.A scientist created LEAP, which is essentially travelling from one place to another in seconds. It’s a quantum teleportation system. The system, copies and pastes you into a new location.Very scientific and very cool. She wants to bring this to the world for free to help with climate change, so she teams up with an investor who can help. However, this technology is going to potentially wipe out air travel and a big company in the aviation industry is struggling as it is.With the release of the system coming up, they are preparing for the launch when the technology gets stolen from under their feet.It leads to disruption and chaos. Which puts the moral and ethical dilemmas of this tech into perspective.Lines are crossed, and laws are blurred.Where do they stand? Is humanity ready to take this Leap? It’s full of action and tension.I should mention it was a little confusing at first, because it took me a minute to get used to the writing and how the story was laid out.But when it settled, I was turning the pages, eager to see how it all played out.I honestly don’t know how, or what will come next?!Verified
I really enjoyed this start of the trilogy How does travel through portals sound?Uma Jakobsdóttir doesn’t want power. She doesn't care about the potential earnings of her technology. She just wants to save the world. Ethan Rae thinks that this sounds good and he is onboard, backing her financially.🔹️"I want to stop mankind from destroying the planet."🔹️I especially enjoyed a look back in time to how they met thirteen months earlier at a wildly interesting lecture. We can not forget the danger in the book, hide and seek, and deadly high-speed chases as less noble characters want the LEAP technology. With great power... you know.😉Uma has enforced the LEAP Laws. However, would anyone adhere to them having the technology in their hands? Now, they are running for their lives, choices are made, all while lines blur in the snow. This book really draws you in.Are you ready to take the LEAP?Verified
Thoughtful read Terrific book. Thanks for sharing your talent with us, Mr. Heaton. Transporter technology. I'm a big Star Trek fan and I've always wondered about it. At the other end of the transport, are you the same person you were when you stepped in at the departing side? Are you just an exact copy? Can you use the transporter to perform medical miracles? Create duplicates? Bring back the dead? I really have to give Mr. Heaton credit for not ignoring these and similar questions. It makes for a much deeper read.Verified
Something Different This isn't a book I would normally choose to read and it took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I had got used to it it started flowing great and soon became a page turner! It talks about the topics such as climate change and teleportation which is what made me weary about reading it, but It's an action packed read with a lot going on. It draws you in and makes you want to learn more. You learn about the characters and what Leap is. You get taken around the world with things happening in each place. You worry for Uma & Ethan, and hope they can make it through the chase. The action starts from the very beginning, and there are so many twists and turns throughout. The ending makes you want to jump straight into book 2.Verified
Very enjoyable Well this was a first for me in this type of book. A very well written story of family, love and friendship between a complex storyline. Uma’s character was one which I loved, hated and questioned throughout. Many twists and turns not expected as well as dramatic fight scenes that pulled you in holding your breath for the outcome. I found it hard to stop reading at times.Verified
Unusual premise. As usual with most authors, too many names to compute. Have to continually search or refer back to see who is who.Verified
Great concepts. A very interesting take on transporter technology and some of the ethical problems that could come with it. Sadly, no discussion of the possible range. Would this make trips to the moon almost instantaneous? Or other planets?Verified
Leap Although I don't read a lot of science fiction novels, I did like the synopsis of this one, and I also do like a book series too. This one is set up well. The settings, characters and events that unfold all made me intrigued to read more. It's a thriller so the pace matches what I'd expect from this genre. You can also find a Prequel of this series via the authors website.Verified
