Just incredible From the very first book in this series, I have been hooked. A huge change in what I would have generally picked up - but what a change it was and since reading LEAP I’ve found myself on constant countdown to when the next book will be released. And to be honest I’m not quite sure how it will feel when I read the last in the series.Back to Aiva - this book is just as fabulously written and page turning as the rest of the series. What OC Heaton does the best is to create this believable world filled with technology, with real world implications that are 100% believable and takes characters and makes them real. The amount of research that has obviously gone into the mechanics of all the science and technology is mind blowing and it makes the story so much better!Uma is still the amazing character I’ve grown to love over the last few books - she is flawed and real and the emphasis with this book is the uncontrollable need to find her missing children. And she’s willing to do anything! As a mother I relate to this on a whole other level.Don’t get me wrong, this book makes you question whether technology is for the best, and whether it should be used in all situations. But this makes for a thought provoking aspect to the read that adds an extra layer of enjoyment. If you want drama, twists and turns, wonderfully paced writing with a cast of characters that you can learn to love and hate - if you’ve read you know the ones I mean - then this series is the one to pick up. I will always shout from the rooftops just how much I adore this series and this books is just another reason why OC Heaton is one of my go to authors!

Heaton Does It Again 😱Heaton Does It Again 😱 This is book 5 of The Race Is On Series and was another great book. Again we have all the tech aspects that I don't fully understand but the way it's written and explained makes it make sense enough to enjoy the storyline.I felt for Uma in this book. We see her struggles looking for her children and trying to process past issues, as well as dealing with what's happening each day and trying to stop Goodwin.Just when we think we have the answers and come to the end, we get that Epilogue!! I'll say no more!

A brilliant read! ‘Aiva’ is book five in ‘The Race Is On’ series in which I somehow didn’t know this was apart of a series, I did go into this read not knowing the storyline leading up to this book. Despite that, I still absolutely loved it, this was an epic sci-fi journey, I found the amount of tech involved really fascinating and I definitely felt like I was in a futuristic universe whilst reading. I appreciate that each chapter is dated and timed as it helped me as reader visualise each chapter better.I really admired Uma, I loved how strong she is and how she doesn’t tolerate any idiocy, she is really focused. She intrigued me the most out of all of the characters but I am going to go back and read book 1 - book 4 and reread five again because I really want to see how far the characters have come.As a whole, this is a fantastic read. In particular I loved the mystery side to the book and I can’t wait to pick up the other books. If you are a fan of all things tech and sci-fi then add this to your TBR!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! This is book 5 in The Race Is On series, and I think it might just be my favourite yet!!All the way through this series I have maintained that Uma is the unlikeable heroine, and she continues that belief here, but there were some interactions - mainly with Jude where I started to think Uma could turn a corner and actually become the true hero here! There have been so many loose threads piling up over the previous 4 books, and we got answers to everything here. You would have been forgiven for thinking the series would end here as questions were answered and revenge was being served left, right and centre, and then it goes and throws in an epilogue like that! How clever is it to take what has been an alien premise, complete science fiction, and then bring in one of the most real events that lives in all our memories of recent times, how on earth is book 6 going to bring Covid 19 and Leap technology together in the next story, I am shooketh! The thing I always like about these books is the short, snappy chapter lengths, you read a LOT in a short space of time (I finished at 52% last night and now just read almost the whole second half in one sitting!).I said at the end of book 4 that I wanted to see more Jude, she played a major part here, even in her off-page moments, she was a grounding factor for Uma. I think their relationship is the one good thing in Uma's life, and I hope that Jude can heal, and become a larger part of the stories dialogue going forward.I felt at the start that I needed a bit of a recap as I started this, I read books 1-3 in such quick succession, there was a wait for book 4 and another wait for book 5 (and there will be almost a years wait for book 6). Generally I hate books recapping the previous book at the start of the next one, but I did feel a little lost when I started this one. Things quickly came back to me as I got through the first 15-20% however and it was like I had never been away!Do I have any idea what will happen next? NO! Have I had a clue what will happen next over the last 4 books before this? NO! Will I wait patiently for book 6? NO, it will be impatiently, but I am super excited to continue this series!

Take a LEAP and get AIVA Thanks to LEAP, we are taken to different places again in AIVA, even 62 miles above earth. Well. Maybe not a LEAP gate was used, still, pretty cool.😁Una Jacobsdóttir is still grieving Ethan and looking for her twins, Kristin and Kristóffer. After the success with LEAP and SOLAR, AIVA is developed, translating rightly 140 trillion spoken words in a shorter time than I can imagine...An Artificially Intelligent Virtual Agent that helps you think faster and act faster.🔹️"She hesitated. Protect.''🔹️Uma is just trying to save the planet, making enemies at every turn. I admire her. My heart has broken for her, and it might again, depending on how this goes. Unlikely of allies, may I please have Fox as my bodyguard for all this action, please?😁The storyline is really good, with twists to shake you to the core. But both knew, deep down, it wouldn't end well. Can Uma find her beloved children? Is what comes next unavoidable? And the epilogue? Whoooooah. 😉

Another exciting read that leaves us in no doubt that there's more to come ... Every time I get hold of this series, I wonder whether it will be the last book - I think I originally expected it to be a trilogy - but here we are now, with the fifth book in The Race Is On series and I honestly think it's getting better and better.I most likely told you originally that this was a leap of faith for me because I rarely picked up books in this genre - but honestly, this really sucked me in and now I'm desperate to follow the characters and find out what new developments will come with each book.Following Uma as she searches for her family, she needs something to give her the upper hand against her enemies - but what she turns to will change everything.Implanting herself with an untested quantum AI agent in the hopes it will allow her to out-think Godwin as he focuses on his rise to power, seemed like the best solution - but it brings with it untold worries and issues that may make her a bigger enemy than even Godwin had become.I have to admit that I do still get a little bogged down with all the science in this, but I've learned that I don't have to understand every single detail to still understand the implications and consequences of what's going on here.I love that the main focus is on the moral compass of the characters and I do find it just a little scary knowing that some of the details in this series are so believable, with developments of tech that I'm sure is not that far ahead in our own future. This is so well written and obviously well researched and the world building is still growing even in this fifth book - and still has me completely invested. This ending guarantees another book will be coming and I just can't wait!

Exciting and well written AIVA, the penultimate book in The Race Is On series. What a continuation it was absolutely fantastic. The story was brilliant and I loved concept. It's been a pleasure reading the series. I love the cover. Again the woman is on the front and there are various hues of purple which was really nice. I loved it. The writing is excellent as always and the story flowed incredibly well. The book is written in the third person format and from multiple points of view. Although, it's mostly Uma's. This worked perfectly well. The book's chapters set in various location. The date and time helps keep the timeline straight which was excellent. The setting was real world places such as New York, Dubai, South Dakota California etc. This worked perfectly for the genre. The characters were all excellent. They were well thought out and developed. I love Uma. She is a good person and incredibly intelligent. Some characters return and they find new levels of dastardlyness (may or may not be a real word!). I definitely recommend the book and the series. Do read the books in order though as it will keep the series timeline straight.

The Race is on series - Book 5 The fifth book in The Race is on Series. I'm grateful to have been a part of the tours from the beginning.Uma is a force to be reckoned with but we're reminded that her journey has been incredibly tough. She's suffered huge losses but her vision and work is advancing at a tremendous rate. She's dedicated and driven and is aiming for the greater good. However, in this book, the driving force for Uma has shifted from professional motivations and is a lot more personal. We're used to seeing Uma's relationships and knowing the ongoing impact that her time with Ethan has had on her- as well as trauma she's suffered. But, she's now missing something important that she needs to get back no matter what. You can feel some level of desperation from her but also the fight that she has. The short sharp chapters that we're used to continues to keep you on your toes. Action packed with a lot to take in.Aiva is the new tech and it's fascinating but frightening in evil measure. Does Uma really know what she's doing? It's riveting and has you questioning whether technology advances quicker than we can understand; and whether we really should be so reliant on it?Book 6 is on its way next year so a bit of a wait for us all. Intrigued already!!

Absolutely loved it I love this series so much, it's refreshing to see such strong female leads written by a male - no offence intended to other male authors. I just love how OC Heaton portrays characters such as Uma with such realistic strength and flaws. I absolutely loved the journey we were brought on in AIVA, I was gripped to my seat. Uma's missing child being mentioned and the whole how and will she get them back had the mother in me pleading for a good outcome. I also found myself cursing out Forsyth a lot, what a character he is. The gall of him.I really enjoyed the way this novel played out, there's parts in the story (without spoilers) which really made me question the use of their systems, I see the good in Uma's technology but I feel like we also witnessed the bad - if you've read this book then hopefully you'll understand what I mean.I love OC Heaton's writing style, it's easy to get into, the pacing is at a great pace and the descriptions are all set out in depth, giving you a greater knowledge of what everything is and means. I also love how it takes me on a journey and has me questioning everything, we're at book 5 and I'm not entirely convinced that all this tech mentioned in this series doesn't exist, OC has created such believable scenarios where fiction is blared with facts at this point to me.After the ending of AIVA, I can't wait to see what's next for Uma and Jude.
