The year is 1986. Jakob Arnasson, brilliant quantum scientist and nuclear physicist, has been dying for forty years. He keeps his illness at bay using LEAP, a mysterious device that regenerates his body every six months. But when Jakob LEAPs, his memories are wiped back to 1st November 1954. The day he made his first LEAP – one he took to keep his dream of eradicating nuclear weapons alive.
On the eve of a nuclear arms reductions summit that Jakob has brokered between the USA and the Soviet Union he is forced to make a LEAP. As the two superpowers arrive in Reykjavík, Jakob’s plans are plunged into further chaos when he discovers a plot to assassinate General Secretary, Mikhail Gorbachev.
The fate of humanity hangs in the balance as Jakob must battle both his failing memories and the death throes of a once mighty superpower – one that is hellbent on plunging the world into a never ending Cold War.
